Terence Crawford starts a new chapter of his career as he prepares for a future clash with Errol Spence Jr. The WBO welterweight champion defends his title against David Avanesyan on December 10.
The fight takes place inside the CHI Health Center in Crawford's backyard in Omaha, Nebraska.
Crawford beat Shawn Porter to retain the WBO title in 2021, his fifth defense of the welterweight title. Following that, “Bud” cut ties with Bob Arum and Top Rank. The former undisputed light-welterweight champion sued Arum and Top Rank, seeking nearly $10 million against Arum after alleging “revolting racist bias” that resulted in him failing to secure big fights for the champion. That includes a fight with Spence.
Now, Crawford will be fighting under the BLK Prime platform. BLK Prime is “a subscription video on demand company that offers multi-cultural content to a diverse audience worldwide.”

Avanesyan made his debut in 2009. After losing his second pro fight, Avanesyan went on a 22-fight unbeaten streak, going 21-0-1. In 2015 he won the interim WBA welterweight title but lost it in 2017 against Lamont Peterson. After failing to win the WBC-NABF welterweight title against Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Avanesyan has gone on a six-fight win streak. His last fight was a TKO win against Oskari Metz.
Banking on himself, Crawford is expected to earn a massive payday for this fight. Here’s a look at how much each fighter will earn, along with their net worth ahead of the bout.
Terence Crawford vs. David Avanesyan purse, prize money
On the Last Stand Podcast, Crawford confirmed he would receive $10 million from BLK PRIME. He has already received half of his purse.
“I got to get the money,” Crawford told Brian Custer. “It’s a one-fight deal. Me personally, I don’t know what (Adrien) Broner’s deal and structure is like, but I already got half of my money already. I’m going to get my other half before I even step in the ring a week before. That way, I don’t have to worry about whether they have the money or they don’t and have to go through all those hoops in getting paid. My money is already secured.”
